And the weekend begins!

Despite a rainy start, the 40th Reunion is off to a great start and continues tonight. 98 mailed/paid reservations have been received for the evening’s dinner/dance. It should be a great time. (Unregistered attendees may join us after 9 pm.)

During yesterday’s tour of the high school led by Deb (Pummil) Laughlin, classmates were amazed to learn how the campus has changed. There are now 5 units holding a student body of over 2600 students.

Then it was time for the Homecoming football game. In the rain. Some toughed it out – others headed to a mixer at Soft Rock Cafe.

We’ve come so far

Centerville’s first high school built in 1886 – 101 W. Franklin Street

The same building now houses Las Piramides Mexican Restaurant

Oh, how far we’ve come. The first high school in Centerville was built in 1886 and located at 101 West Franklin St. Stables were located in the rear for the student’s horses. In 1924, the school was closed when a centralized school system was instituted. The 9 one-room schools and this high school were consolidated and moved into the new Washington Township School just down the street. That building is now known as Magsig Middle School.

In 1941, the first high school building was converted into a restaurant, The Wishing Well Restaurant. A raised platform for recitation was turned into a kitchen, and a fireplace on the south wall covered the original doorway and bell tower. The building has housed various restaurants over the years, the latest being Las Piramides. (Source: Centerville-Washington Township Historical Society)

Who is ready to party?

Blast from the past --Bill's Donuts

Come home. You know you want some Bill’s Donuts.

There are two new pages on the Class of 74’s website to note: As of today, the “Registration Form” and “Who’s Coming?” pages (found above) are live and active. If you haven’t done so already, please submit your contact information on the “Submit Your Contact Info” page so that we know where you are.

If you are attending, when your Registration Form is received, your name will be added to the “Who’s Coming?” page.

So far, only about 85 classmates are accounted for. If your name is not highlighted in yellow on the “Classmate List” page, hop to it! If everyone could just help us find two or three classmates – we’d really be rocking!
